Board of Directors
As a nonprofit organization, we are governed by our Bylaws and strategically led by our Board of Directors. The Board is instrumental in helping our organization focus on delivering effective products and services that meet the needs of our network providers, their patients and our customers.
Dr. Magnani earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL. She is currently Lead Chiropractor at Allina Health where she has been employed since 1996. Dr. Magnani has been a speaker at several chiropractic conferences and is the lead faculty member at the University of St. Thomas Chiropractic Leadership Institute. She is certified in acupuncture and is actively involved in fitness, nutrition and women’s health.
Dr. Peter Vrieze has owned Vrieze Chiropractic in New Richmond, WI since 1979, and was a director of ChiroCare of Wisconsin. Dr. Vrieze is a member of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association, served as a two-term president of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association, and was elected a the director of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association. He was also elected director of the Logan College of Chiropractic Alumni Association, and is a National Board of Chiropractic Examiners diplomat. By governor appointment, Dr. Vrieze served the Department of Regulation and Licensing Chiropractic Examining Board where he was elected vice chair. He is active in his community, having served as the chair of the New Richmond Economic Development Commission and president of the New Richmond Kiwanis Club. Dr. Vrieze graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic, where he was the president of the Student Doctors Council.
Mark has been Vice President, Finance – Shared Clinical Services at Fairview Health Services since July of 2009. In this role, Mark is engaged in strategic planning and business development for system-wide service lines (cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, rehabilitation). He provides operations finance support to those service lines, and system-wide ancillary care services including laboratory, medical imaging, rehabilitation, homecare, and hospice. Mark leads initiatives to reduce clinical variation, and leads valuation and analysis of strategic growth initiatives and revenue model strategies.
Mark also served as the Columbia Park Medical Group Interim CFO from January to July of 2009. In this role, he provided financial and strategic leadership to the newly acquired multi-specialty physician group of 95 providers. Prior to this role, Mark was the Regional CFO of Fairview Lakes Medical Center from February 2006 to January 2009.
Before joining Fairview, Mark was with Allina Health System for 11 years as a Finance Director and Financial Analyst. In these roles, Mark was engaged in program profitability analysis, decision support systems development and implementation, budgeting and forecasting, and capital investment analysis. Mark received his Bachelor of Science from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and studied engineering at the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology.
Rebecca McManus is a senior marketing professional with proven success developing brands and growing businesses—for organizations including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, 3M, Medtronic, Kodak, IBM, Imation, U.S. Bank, Target, Ameriprise, General Mills, Bachman’s and many others. Ms. McManus provides strategic marketing direction and effective solutions for organizations focused on growth and customer retention. She is passionate about building the success of organizations that are committed to making a difference in people’s well-being and to the health, safety and sustainability of the planet. Ms. McManus has served on the Fulcrum board of directors since 2010 and is chair the marketing and communications committee, and a member of the executive and business development committees.
Dr. Mark Dehen, a graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic and Creighton University, has been in practice at the Back to Wellness Clinic in North Mankato since 1987, and has been its President since 2002. Dr. Dehen has been the Mayor of North Mankato since 2011, and has served in several community organizations, including Mankato’s Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, Loyola Catholic High School as a school board member and chair. Dr. Dehen has authored several articles in the scientific literature and has certificates in whiplash, industrial consultation, and back pain recognition. Among other awards, Dr. Dehen has received the MCA Chiropractor of the Year and John Allenburg Meritorious Award , NWHSU Distinguished Alumnus, as well as voted Best Chiropractor by Mankato Magazine in 2012 and 2013. Dr. Dehen is a Fellow in the International College of Chiropractors.
Dr. Bronston has served on the board of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association since 2002 and is the president of the American Chiropractic Association Council of Delegates. He is in active clinical practice, has authored several peer-reviewed papers, and has a Master’s degree in musculoskeletal management.
Ms. Finch is the CIO of Logistics Health, a wholly owned business of Optum (owned by UnitedHealth Group) focused on providing medical readiness services to the Department of Defense, government and commercial entities.
Ms. Finch has 31 years of experience in Information Technology and has worked at USBank, St. Jude Medical, Assurant, Fortis, HealthPartners, Arthur Andersen, MedVision, MedPower, and MidWest Federal. Her roles within these organizations have included: IT Governance, Portfolio, Program and Project Management (EPMO), Development Mgmt, IT Operations, Security, Compliance, and Strategic Planning, among others.
Ms. Finch has a Doctorate in Organization Development, a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from St. Thomas University, Bachelor’s degree in Business Science from the University of Minnesota, and degrees in Computer Operations/Computer Programming from Century College.
Ms. Finch is a previous board member of the Minnesota High Tech Association (Promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math careers) and BestPrep (Promoting K-12 Finance/Business Education). She has served as a mentor for Menttium 100 for seven years as well as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas teaching eLearning/Knowledge Management/Performance Improvement for the past eight years.
Scott Giltner is currently the Chief Lending Officer for WESTconsin Credit Union, a $1.3 billion credit union located in Menomonie, WI. With more than 34 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Giltner has an extensive background in residential, consumer, and commercial lending and financial management.
Mr. Giltner served as the Chairman of the Board for Chiropractic Care of Wisconsin for several years and was with the organization for over 25 years before it merged with Fulcrum Health. He has developed a solid knowledge of the chiropractic industry by serving in this capacity, and enjoys contributing as a Fulcrum Board member to enhance the Fulcrum network experience for providers and their patients.
Mr. Giltner has previously served on the board of many professional and community organizations in Wisconsin and has enjoyed being engaged helping others. Mr. Giltner earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.
Dr. Hager practices at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota and has been active in the chiropractic industry since 1993. He is currently working on a team that is developing the region’s first spine center that will involve collaboration of multi-disciplinary staff in delivering patient-centered care. In addition to his work at Essentia Health, Dr. Hager has his own consulting business where he advises independent chiropractors, third-party payors, and industry associations.
Dr. Hager served as the director of chiropractic services at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota for 15 years and currently sits on the Board for Logan University.
Dr. Hager holds degrees from North Dakota State University and Palmer College of Chiropractic, and received advanced leadership training from the Chiropractic Leadership Institute at the University of St. Thomas.
Dr. Kimble is a graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic and has his own practice, Kimble Chiropractic, since 1980. He has served on the Fulcrum Health, Inc. Board since 1984, and has served on several other chiropractic and civic boards as well, including the Minnesota and American Chiropractic Associations.
Additionally, Dr. Kimble has acted as a Minnesota Chiropractic Representative on the Physicians Advisory Committee on Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation Medicare Program from 1992 to 2012 and has served as a consultant with 3M’s Healthcare Research and Development division.
David A. Ness, a long-term executive at Medtronic, recently retired after managing the firm’s entire global rewards program, including health care and employee wellness, for more than 36 years. During that period, he helped establish the Definity consumer driven healthcare model and led Medtronic to become one of the earliest adopters of an integrated total health model. He continues to serve as a consultant on executive compensation matters.
Dr. Paul Rodney Wernick is best known as a pediatrician who became Medical Director for United HealthCare. Professionally, Dr. Wernick also served as a health care employee benefit consultant for more than 15 years, both independently and at William M. Mercer and Towers Watson. He recently retired from practicing medicine.
A Fulcrum Board member since 2001, Dr. Richard Zarmbinski has served on the Board of Trustees at Northwestern Health Sciences University for 20 years, has been a long-standing member of the American Chiropractic Association, and is a past president of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association. Dr. Zarmbinski is a graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic, and has owned and operated A Center for Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Woodbury for nearly 30 years. He has earned several awards, including Chiropractor of the Year from the Minnesota Chiropractic Association and Distinguished Alumnus from Northwestern College of Chiropractic.
As chief executive officer, Patricia Dennis provides strategic leadership and establishes long-ranging goals, strategies, and policies. Working in concert with the Board and Leadership Team, she guides Fulcrum in delivering high-quality, evidence-based physical medicine services.
Prior to joining Fulcrum, Ms. Dennis served as Senior Vice President for Health and Care Engagement at HealthPartners. In this role, she was responsible for the vision, strategic direction, and operational leadership to improve health and care for patients and members by delivering an integrated and personalized experience. Her areas of responsibility included behavioral health; case and disease management; health and well-being; quality improvement; utilization management; regulatory compliance; accreditation; worksite health; employer clinics; business development and integration; and health engagement solutions. In addition to her work at HealthPartners, Ms. Dennis has also served in leadership roles at Healthways/Tivity and Medica, and has held management positions in banking, commercial construction, and government service industries.
Ms. Dennis graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Minot State University, with additional specialized executive education from St. Thomas University, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and the Harvard School of Business. Ms. Dennis is a recent graduate of the Leadership Program in Integrative Healthcare at Duke University.
In 2009, Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal honored Ms. Dennis as one of its “Women to Watch.”
