Joel Spoonheim is the Chief Commercial Officer for Fulcrum Health. In this role, Spoonheim oversees sales, account management, marketing and communications, and product development functions. In collaboration with health plan, broker, employer, and provider partners, he is responsible for driving innovation that increases utilization of high-quality, physical medicine that improves the total cost of care.
Prior to joining Fulcrum, Spoonheim led worksite health and population well-being services at HealthPartners for 10 years, delivering services to employers, Medicare, and Medicaid members across the region. Previously he served as the principal architect, program manager, and product developer during the start up of the Blue Zones Project®, a service that improves the health of entire cities. Earlier in his career, Joel served as an economic development and urban planning professional in city government and worked as a budget analyst and lobbyist in Washington, D.C.
Spoonheim received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Luther College, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Minnesota. Joel is a proven leader committed to sharing insights as a published author, dynamic trainer and speaker, and executive coach. Outside of work, he is a dedicated community volunteer serving youth programs, city council, and nonprofit boards.
